Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • Please ensure that your submission is a PDF file. If applicable, you are encouraged to submit your TEX file and/or recordings as supplementary files.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed. Note that this also means that your submission should be anonymous.  You MUST remove your name, affiliation, etc.
  • All submissions must be in proofread English; otherwise they will automatically be rejected.

Author Guidelines

You must use the template provided. This can be loaded as a Word template file (dotx file), or you can open our author guidelines with the template styles already in use (docx file) (pdf of the same file).

If you are using LaTeX, you can download the style-file packages needed. Note that the file sample-jsal-article.tex includes a call to a package that is not included in the package: tipa. You will need to download this separately (for useful hints see this page).
