The Zeitschrift für Sprachwissenschaft was founded 1981 by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sprachwissenschaft (German Linguistic Society). Between 2004 and 2024, it has been published by Mouton de Gruyter. From 2025 onwards, it is published by PubliKon at the University of Konstanz in a Diamond Open Access format.
