Random Choice Modality: Spanish 'Uno Cualquiera'
Abstract
Across languages, we find indefinites that signal that an agent made a random choice. This paper paves the way towards a better understanding of these ‘random choice indefinites’ by investigating the type of modality expressed by Spanish uno cualquiera. We propose that the random choice effect of uno cualquiera comes about because this item requires the agent’s decision to have a particular content.Downloads
