Abstract

INTRODUCTION The relative principle between spin and speed is a universal law in table tennis techneque. In our paper, we put forward the viewpoint that the ratio of relative speed and the hubspeed of the ball isthe characteristic standard number and there are three types of motion locus of every point on the ball. They are helical-line and spinningline. Therefore, the complicated technique of table tennis can be classified into three basic types: spinning type, speed type, and comprehensive type. A ball hit at the different points of the second locus has different composite forces. Thus, a player can have the feel of different composite forces. Thus, a player can have the feel of different spins when he hits the ball at the different stages of the second locus, and the composite speed vector of that hitting point determines the characteristic of play in the table tennis technique. The different characteristic standard numbers of lobbing, looping and fast loop drive indicate why the player has the feel of different spins in lobbing and looping.
