BIOMECHANICS IN YOUTH SPORTS
Keywords: youth sports, injury prevention, visual evaluation, coaching, biomechanics
AbstractThis paper addressed the many roles of biomechanics in youth sports, especially in injury prevention and instructional/coaching practices. An injury prevention model to study the mechanisms of injury is proposed for youth sports and its use in a variety of sports is identified. In addition, the translation of principles of biomechanics into coaching language and visual evaluation techniques are presented to demonstrate how the gap between the science and practice of biomechanics in youth sports can be bridged.
