About the Journal

The  LFG proceedings publish the papers presented at the annual LFG conference. Abstracts are peer-reviewed (double-blind) before being accepted to the conference.  For the proceedings the full papers undergo another round of reviewing.  Presentation at the conference does not automatically qualify papers for the proceedings, they must be accepted to the proceedings after the review of the full papers.

The first LFG conference was held in 1996 in Grenoble and was hosted by Xerox with Annie Zaenen as a sponsor.  Miriam Butt and Tracy King constituted the first program committee.  Since then, LFG conferences have been held in rotation across the major continents and are designed to foster research and academic exchange on any work within the formal architecture of Lexical Functional Grammar as well as typological, formal, computational and psycholinguistic work within the 'spirit of LFG' as a lexicalist approach to language employing a parallel, constraint-based framework.

The LFG proceedings have been published by CSLI Publications from 1996 to 2022 and have been made available on-line since the earliest conference in the spirit of quick and world-wide access to scholarly information without a pay-wall. The proceedings have evolved technically over the years, moving to an OJS solution in 2022.  The proceedings continue to be Diamond Open Access, now sponsored by the University of Konstanz.
