EQUIPMENT DESIGN AND TESTING
Keywords: equipment design, landing mats, methodology
AbstractThe paper attempts to summarise goals of equipment design. The interdependencies are described. The development of landing mats for gymnastics serves as example for a typical evolutionary process. Different methods and approaches used to tackle complex problems are discussed for a fictitious example. Potential modifications of vaulting poles and their effect on technique and performance are considered.
